The 2009 flu outbreak is the epidemic of a new strain of influenza virus that was clinically identified in April 2009, a type of influenza A (H1N1) virus, commonly called swine flu. It is currently a phase 5 outbreak, one level below an official pandemic.
The date and location of the outbreak is still unknown, but it was first detected in two cases in Southern California in late March.

Swine Flu
Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza virus that regularly causes outbreaks of influenza in pigs. Swine flu viruses cause high levels of illness and low death rates in pigs. Swine influenza viruses may circulate among swine throughout the year, but most outbreaks occur during the late fall and winter months similar to outbreaks in humans. The classical swine flu virus (an influenza type A H1N1 virus) was first isolated from a pig in 1930.
هو مرض يصيب الجهاز التنفسي ويؤثر على الخنازير، وناجم عن النوع الأول من فيروس الانفلونزا، كما أن الانفلونزا تصيب الخنازير على مدار العام. والنوع الشائع منه هو الذي يطلق عليه اسم “إتش 1 إن 1″ H1N1، والفيروس الجديد متطور عن هذا النوع، وهو الذي ينتقل للبشر.

Swine Flu in Humans
Swine flu viruses do not normally infect humans. However, sporadic human infections with swine flu have occurred. Most commonly, these cases occur in persons with direct exposure to pigs (e.g. children near pigs at a fair or workers in the swine industry). In addition, there have been documented cases of one person spreading swine flu to others. For example, an outbreak of apparent swine flu infection in pigs in Wisconsin in 1988 resulted in multiple human infections, and, although no community outbreak resulted, there was antibody evidence of virus transmission from the patient to health care workers who had close contact with the patient.
رغم أن الفيروس يصيب الخنازير في العادة وينتشر بينها، ونادراً ما ينتقل إلى البشر، إلا أن هناك حالات انتقال للفيروس من الخنازير إلى البشر، ومن ثم بين البشر أنفسهم.
والاختلاف الوحيد هو أن الانتقال في الماضي لم ينتشر إلى أكثر من ثلاثة أشخاص، كما يحدث حالياً.


إن أعراض الإصابة بفيروس انفلونزا الخنازير
هي نفسها أعراض الإصابة بالانفلونزا العادية، أي ارتفاع درجات الحرارة عند المصابين بالفيروس والإصابة بالنعاس والكسل وانعدام الشهية والكحة وسيلان الأنف واحتقان الحلق الغثيان والقيء والإسهال

What are signs of swine flu in pigs?
Signs of swine flu in pigs can include sudden onset of fever, depression, coughing (barking), discharge from
the nose or eyes, sneezing, breathing difficulties, eye redness or inflammation, and going off feed.

Is there a vaccine for swine flu?
Vaccines are available to be given to pigs to prevent swine influenza. There is no vaccine to protect
humans from swine flu. The seasonal influenza vaccine will likely help provide partial protection against swine H3N2, but not swine H1N1 viruses.
لا يوجد أيّ لقاح يحتوي على فيروس انفلونزا الخنازير الراهن الذي يصيب البشر. ولذلك للوقاية من الفيروسات والجراثيم، يمكن اتباع بعض الخطوات اليومية الاعتيادية مثل
غسل اليدين مراراً وتكراراً، وتجنب الاتصال مع المرضى أو الاقتراب منهم، وتجنب لمس أشياء ملوثة.
